Open the image with GIMP which you want to make it as a GIF motion image.

Here is a simple example to make a GIF motion image.
Press the duplicate layer button to copy the selected layer

We would like to rotate this image to perform a rotating disc with Ubuntu logo.
GIF was established from the bottom layer to the top layer.
Somehow, You should rearrange the layers before the established.


After create a list of layers.
Go to File > Save as
Select GIF image file type then press Save.

Select Save as Animation then press Export.

If the image is out of canvas, GIMP will warn you to crop the image after exporting or cancel the exporting if you don’t want to crop.

GIF comment is optional.
Normally, we suggest you enable Loop forever.
The delay frame which means how long you would like the GIF to perform.
Other options we suggest to use default settings.
Then press Save.

Finally the GIF image is created.

Here is the result.
However, it is not a good result that the centre of circle shows an incorrect performance.
